This 8-hour course is designed to prepare individuals serving as a Designated Substitute Administrator in a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) to effectively assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the certified Administrator.
The course provides a focused overview of the laws, regulations, and operational standards outlined in Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8, as well as relevant sections of the California Health and Safety Code.
Participants will develop a working knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, and limitations of a Designated Substitute, including oversight of daily operations, supervision of staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Emphasis is placed on incident reporting, risk management, resident rights, admission and retention procedures, medication oversight, and maintaining a safe and compliant physical environment.

Transfer Trauma Management
Caregiver Training
This 2-hour course provides Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) administrators and staff with essential knowledge and practical strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to transfer trauma (relocation stress syndrome) in elderly residents. The course examines the psychological and physiological impacts of relocation, identifies high-risk populations, and outlines observable signs and symptoms associated with transfer-related decline.​ Instruction emphasizes compliance with Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8 regulations, including resident assessment, care planning, and resident rights.
Participants will engage in scenario-based learning and case study analysis to apply regulatory requirements and best practices in real-world RCFE settings. The course also addresses administrative responsibilities in developing policies, ensuring proper documentation, and integrating trauma-informed approaches into facility operations to promote resident stability, safety, and quality of care.
