Service Description
Fulfill your 8-hour Continuing Education requirement or prepare for a leadership role with this specialized training. This comprehensive program is designed for those seeking to become a Designated Substitute or maintain their California RCFE certification. The Designated Substitute Administrator (RCFE) Course is an 8-hour targeted training program designed to strengthen leadership continuity, regulatory compliance, and risk management within Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. This course is strategically developed for Executive Directors, Owners, and current Administrators, as well as caregivers and business managers seeking professional growth, leadership development, or advancement into supervisory roles. A key operational vulnerability in RCFE settings occurs during periods when the licensed Administrator is absent. Without properly trained leadership coverage, facilities face increased risk of regulatory non-compliance, delayed incident reporting, inconsistent staff supervision, and compromised resident safety. This course addresses that gap by preparing participants to function effectively as Designated Substitutes, capable of maintaining oversight and ensuring adherence to Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8 requirements. Participants will develop a practical understanding of the authority, responsibilities, and limitations of the Designated Substitute role, with emphasis on high-risk operational areas including incident reporting, staffing oversight, medication management, resident rights, and admission/retention decisions. Through scenario-based learning and applied decision-making, learners will build the confidence and competence necessary to respond to complex situations, prioritize competing demands, and make defensible, regulation-aligned decisions in real time.
